The creative process began for me at the age of nine.
I started sewing, and fell madly in love with matching form and design to texture and function. Fast forward to high school, and when I couldn’t buy (or find) items I wanted, I began altering and making my own clothes. Throughout my young adulthood and into motherhood, designing and sewing were always integral parts of my life. For example, when my daughters, Audrey and Isabel, were both under the age of four, I started Silverlining — a children’s clothing line. I proudly yet tirelessly designed and manufactured all of the clothing. However, as full-time motherhood became more demanding, Silverlining took a backseat.
All along, though, I never lost sight of my devotion to sewing. I started working with local boutiques and doing alterations. After relentless work and gentle encouragement from my family and friends, Cindy Kirk Designs was born. To this day, I am dedicated to following my passion: designing the perfect handbag, one that has a beautiful balance of shape, detail, leather, texture, and utility. I have a keen appreciation for well-crafted pieces that are both unique and practical, and each Cindy Kirk bag reflects that. Every piece is handmade in Sun Valley, Idaho.
Sun Valley has been my home since my husband and I moved here over 29 years ago. The landscape and lifestyle in this magnificent mountain town informs my design sensibility. Additionally, working with hides has brought me back to my upbringing on a ranch in rural Southern California. As my past and present collide, I continue to design from the heart. Cindy Kirk Designs is my true passion, and I am excited to continue creating beautiful, long-lasting handbags.
